Post-Operative Guidelines for Double Chin Liposuction
Swelling
Swelling and bruising may gradually worsen during the first 3 days after surgery. After that, they will slowly improve over time depending on individual recovery.
Keeping your upper body elevated and your head higher than your heart may help reduce swelling.
Recovery Progress
Stitches are removed on day 7, and please avoid getting water on the wound area for 2 days after stitch removal.
Bruising, firmness, tingling, or dull sensation may occur in the surgical area. These symptoms are normal and will gradually disappear over time.
Skin tightness, pulling sensations, numbness, and localized redness are part of the normal healing process.
Pulling sensations and redness gradually resolve over 3–6 months.
Wound Care
For the first 1–2 days after surgery, a light fluid discharge (tumescent solution) may leak from the incision site. This is not active bleeding, so there is no need to worry. Simply wipe it gently with clean gauze.
Please avoid excessive neck extension or bending forward for 2 months.
Cleansing & Showering
Face washing and makeup are allowed starting the day after stitch removal.
If you wash your face before the stitches are removed, please apply waterproof tape over the incision site and avoid getting the area wet as much as possible.
Bathhouses, steam rooms, and saunas are allowed starting after 4 weeks post-surgery.
Prescribed Medications
Please take all medications prescribed by the clinic as instructed after surgery.
Skipping doses may increase the risk of inflammation.
After discharge, please take the prescribed medications regularly at the designated times. If symptoms such as diarrhea or hives occur after taking the medication, discontinue use and contact the clinic immediately.
Pain relievers are included in the prescription.
However, if you continue to experience significant pain, you may take additional Tylenol (acetaminophen).
For 1 month after surgery, please avoid multivitamins (especially Vitamin E) and nutritional supplements, as they may increase the risk of bleeding.
Unless absolutely necessary, aspirin should be avoided for at least one week after surgery.
Swelling-reduction medications are not recommended, as they may also increase the risk of bleeding.
Exercise
Light exercise is allowed after 2 weeks, and strenuous activities (such as workouts, hiking, or swimming) are allowed starting after 1 month.
General Post-Operative Precautions
Alcohol & Smoking
Alcohol consumption and smoking are strictly prohibited for one month after surgery.
Please also avoid excessive exercise and stress during the recovery period.
Alcohol may increase the risk of inflammation, and smoking constricts blood vessels, which can delay wound healing and slow recovery.
