WONDERFUL PLASTIC SURGERY
Precautions for Plastic Surgery & Skin Treatments
Post-Operative Guidelines for Breast Lift Surgery
Position
  1. For about 1 week after surgery, it is recommended to sleep with your upper body slightly elevated.
  2. Until 3 months after surgery, it is best to sleep on your back facing upward, and sleeping on your side or stomach should be avoided for up to 6 months.
  3. Please avoid raising your arms excessively during the early recovery period.
Swelling
  1. Swelling and bruising may worsen during the first 2–3 days after surgery and gradually improve over the next 2–4 weeks.
  2. Breast swelling may cause temporary differences in size between the left and right sides, but this usually improves over time. However, if only one breast becomes severely swollen or if you notice significant dark bruising, please contact the clinic immediately.
  3. Swelling is usually at its peak until about 3 days after surgery, and then it will gradually begin to subside from day 3 onward.
Recovery Progress
  1. You may feel some discomfort due to the compression bandage after surgery, but an appropriate level of compression helps promote faster recovery.
  2. Immediately after surgery, when swelling is severe, the breasts may appear uneven in size. As the swelling subsides over time, the asymmetry will gradually improve.
  3. Please be careful to prevent the bandage from loosening, and avoid any stimulation such as pressure on the surgical area or getting it wet.
  4. In the early stage, you may experience reduced sensation around the nipples and surrounding area, but sensation typically returns after about 2–3 months.
  5. Scars will gradually begin to fade starting at least 6 weeks after surgery, and by 2–3 months post-surgery, they usually become barely noticeable.
  6. If you experience severe swelling, fever, fluid discharge from the incision site, or throbbing pain, please contact the clinic immediately and follow further instructions.
Wound Care
  1. Please begin scar management using scar ointment and patches starting 2 weeks after stitch removal.
(Use for approximately 6 months–1 year is recommended.)
  2. Surgical tape is removed on day 7 at the first follow-up visit.
  3. We recommend avoiding bras during daily activities only after 6 months post-surgery.
  4. In the early stage, silicone-based scar ointment is recommended, as it provides effective moisturization and may help prevent keloid scarring.
Cleansing & Showering
  1. Showering is allowed starting 1 week after surgery, and we recommend applying waterproof tape over the incision area.
  2. Direct water exposure to the surgical site is allowed starting 3 weeks after surgery, once all stitches and tape have been removed.
  3. Steam rooms and saunas are prohibited for 1 month after surgery.
Prescribed Medications
  1. Please take all medications prescribed by the clinic as instructed after surgery.
Skipping doses may increase the risk of inflammation.
  2. After discharge, please take the prescribed medications regularly at the designated times. If symptoms such as diarrhea or hives occur after taking the medication, discontinue use and contact the clinic immediately.
  3. Pain relievers are included in the prescription.
However, if you continue to experience significant pain, you may take additional Tylenol (acetaminophen).
  4. For 1 month after surgery, please avoid multivitamins (especially Vitamin E) and nutritional supplements, as they may increase the risk of bleeding.
  5. Unless absolutely necessary, aspirin should be avoided for at least one week after surgery.
  6. Swelling-reduction medications are not recommended, as they may also increase the risk of bleeding.
Exercise
  1. For the first 3 days after surgery, you should limit arm movement except for eating and washing your face, and focus on rest.
  2. Starting after 1 month, light exercise is allowed as long as it does not strain the body.
  3. Activities that heavily involve the shoulder joint or cause prolonged breast movement, such as golf, weight training, swimming, or marathons, should be resumed gradually after 3 months.
Support Bra
  1. When wearing a compression bra, please ensure it is properly positioned to support the lower breast line.
  2. After surgery, a sports bra should be worn for 2–6 months, and regular underwire bras may be worn after 6 months.
  3. During exercise, wearing a supportive sports bra is strongly recommended to minimize breast movement.
General Post-Operative Precautions
  1. Alcohol & Smoking
Alcohol consumption and smoking are strictly prohibited for one month after surgery.
Please also avoid excessive exercise and stress during the recovery period.
Alcohol may increase the risk of inflammation, and smoking constricts blood vessels, which can delay wound healing and slow recovery.
  2. Emergency Situations
If you experience any of the following symptoms, please contact the clinic or your assigned coordinator immediately and visit the hospital as soon as possible.
Contact the Clinic Immediately If: · You experience severe eye pain or changes in vision
    · Heavy bleeding continues
    · You develop a high fever over 38°C or severe dizziness
    · The surgical area becomes extremely swollen or shows changes in skin color
